Pratt, Irene Edith, of Central Onslow, passed away peacefully Monday, January 1, 2018 at The Mira Long Term Care Centre Truro. Born in Truro, December 24, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Mary (MacGregor) Dickson. Irene was a member of Trinity United Church Central Onslow, and the UCW for 50 years. She loved playing cards, especially 45’s and Bridge, and was a member of the Onslow Bridge Club for over 55 years. She missed her best friend, Leta Hill, and had many fond memories of childhood times spent together as well as maintaining a close friendship right up until the time of Leta’s death. She was a true homemaker and loved caring for her home. She took great pride in its appearance and making people feel at home. Irene is survived by her husband George Arthur Pratt, the love of her life for 73 years; daughters, Joan (Al) Roland, Truro, Mary Pratt (Judi Milne) Conquerall Bank; sons, Robert (Judy) Pratt, Brian Pratt (Vicki Spears), Truro Heights, Michael Pratt (Joyce Arsenault), Central Onslow, Randy Pratt (Pauline Currie), Harmony; sister, Audrey “Dixie” Organ, Truro; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother-in-law, Rexford “Rex” Organ; niece, Carol Organ. No visitation by request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, January 8, 2018, Rev. Glenn MacLean officiating, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment at a later date in the Onslow Island Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the Trinity United Church, the Onslow Island Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
