It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hedley Wilfred Smith announce his passing on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook in his 85th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Diane Curtis, Alan (Christie), Wayne (Katie), Linda Fitzpatrick, David, Susan Wheeler (Jerome Rideout), Sharon MacMillan and Karen (Eric) Elliott; grandchildren: Marc, Melanie, Robert, Robin, Tara-Lynn, Terry, John, Amy, Sarah, Holly, Kathleen, Stephen, Ryan, Ian, Jamie, Allen and Emma; 12 great-grandchildren; special friend Beulah Smith and her family; brothers: James (Valetta) and Cyril; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Florence (nee Seaward), grandson David Gough, sons-in-law Derek Wheeler, Wayne Fitzpatrick and Lloyd Curtis, parents Gilbert and Ivy Smith. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Humber United Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
