With heavy hearts we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Raymond James, 75, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend after a courageous battle with cancer. On January 16, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family, he passed away peacefully.
Born in South Wales U.K., 1942 he was the son of the late James I. Lahey and Gwenny Lahey (Howell).
He is survived by daughter, Raylene (Robbie); son, Jamie (Wanda), Edmonton; grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan, Jessie and Monica whom he loved dearly; brothers, Philip (Iris) Gwynne and Hayden (Ann); sisters, Gwyneth (U.K.), Martha (Cape North), Wendy (Ken) and Thelma (Sandy).
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Monica (Monsie); brother-in-law, Robert Gwynne and niece, Kimberly Dawn Whalen.
Dad was a hard worker his whole life between construction, lumber mills and fishing and never complained. He was one in a million and always there to help anyone in need.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at 4D and Palliative Care.
Dad will be missed dearly by all that knew him, especially by his granddaughter, Monica who cherished him.
Visitation for Raymond will take place Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Main-A-Dieu.
Funeral mass to take place Monday Jan. 22nd at 11 a.m. in the same location. Fr. Evo DiPierro to officiate. Burial at a later date.
