We, the children of Martha Gillis, wish to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to our relatives, friends and neighbours for their support during the recent loss of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt. Your prayers and kindness helped get us through a most difficult time. Many thanks for your gifts of food, flowers, Mass and sympathy cards and donations to various charities in Mom’s name. From the “Paramedics”, to the “staff” at the “Emergency Department” at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, your care and understanding for Mom was greatly appreciated, and to Dr. Naqvi and Dr. Lang for the tentative care they have given mom over the years. Enough cannot be said for the compassion and professionalism given to Mom, from the “VON Nurses” and “Palliative Care Staff”. Bless you all! Thank you to Father Ray Huntley, Deacon Leo Penny, altar servers and choir from our parish of St. Leonard and the St. Leonard CWL for providing lunch. Special thank you to granddaughters, Kathleen Myette and Lydia Sheppard (lectors), and grandsons, Trevor Williams, Keith MacLeod, Paul Currie, Duncan Gillis, Joseph Gillis and Johnathan Williams (pallbearers), Paul Hines Jr. and Daniel Stevens (offertory gift bearers). A warm thank you to niece and nephew, Mary Lydia Sass and Pius Murray for travelling home to attend Mom’s services. A sincere thank you to all who attended the wake and or funeral and the staff at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home for all of your professional care and kindness.
