Lobeila Mary (Blackie) Doyle

Lobeila Mary (Blackie) Doyle

Date de décès : 3 février 2018

With heavy hearts, we, the family of Lobeila Mary (Blackie) Doyle, 80, announce our mom’s passing on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on November 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Doris Blackie of Sydney Mines.
On August 25, 1956, Mom married her soulmate Francis Michael Doyle, and they raised eight children on their family farm in Millville. Mom was a caring, passionate woman who loved all children, and her door was always open for tea and her home baked goods. There were many children in our neighbourhood that considered her as a second mom. She taught all of us to work hard, respect our elders, and be kind to all living things. Mom had a great love for animals. She and Dad rescued and cared for many unwanted farm animals over the years. She had a great love of music, dance and classic movies, and always enjoyed a good kitchen party with family friends, and neighbours. Her favourite time of year was Christmas, and she loved Halloween with the neighbourhood children visiting her home.
Mom was blessed with a loving family and her memories will always be cherished. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Sarah King; brother, Joseph Blackie; her children, Kathleen (AKA Kate), Halifax, Sharon (John) Kfoury, PEI, Frank (Paulette), Millville, Jim (Brenda Comer), Sydney, Angela (AKA Aina), BC, Dianne (Brian) Timmins, Big Bras d’Or, Janice (AKA Denny) (Duncan MacDonald), Foxcreek, AB; 19 grandchildren, Shauna, Chris , Alana, Semaan, Sasha, Gregory, Emily, Lucus, Francis, David, Nathan, Brianna, Tavis, Brandi, Ashley, Crystal, Mary Francis, Jessica, Felicia, and 16 great grandchildren, Leighton, Cooper, Landon, Logan, Abigail (baby Abby), Lilly, Marek, Abigail, Emilee, Darian, Theo, Mikala and Amelia, London, Jace, Dallas.
Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis Michael Doyle, and the youngest of her children, Brian Nicholas Doyle; brothers, Lawrence, Cecil, Ernie and Bill, and sisters, Verna and Ruth.
The family would like to thank Anne McGean, of Continuing Care, all staff of the VON and Home Support for taking such good care of Mom, enabling her to stay in her home with her beloved fur baby Freeway. Thank you to doctors and nurses of the stroke wing and Palliative Care of Cape Breton Regional Hospital. A special thank you to Willard Mombourquette and surrounding neighbours for watching over her, Paulette Doyle and Sheila Palmer for all of their support and kindness to Mom.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of the SPCA, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, or Heart and Stoke Foundation. There will be no visitation. Celebration of Mom’s life and faith will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Father James Oliver officiating. There will be a gathering after the service for an opportunity to share memories over a cup of tea at the Parish Hall. Committal will take place at a later date.
Mom will be reunited with her baby boy, Brian (1989) and soulmate after 35 years, and will be dancing in his arms once again.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again may the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.
