Annie F. Howatt, 94, of The Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview, N.B., and a former long-time and very proud resident of Branch Road, Tryon, P.E.I., passed away peacefully within the comforts of her residence on Thursday morning, February 8, 2018. Born in Kelly’s Cross, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Gordon and S. Margaret (MacDonald) Waddell. Annie was a retired school teacher with over 45 years’ service, having retired from Athena Consolidated School, Summerside, P.E.I. (June 1988) and was a long-time member of South Shore United Church, having served her church in various capacities in her younger years and was a long-time member of Tryon Women’s Institute. She loved gardening, entertaining, baking, cooking and socializing with her family and friends at the farmhouse on Branch Road and at the cottage in Hampton, P.E.I. Annie will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted daughter, Margaret Ferguson of Moncton, N.B.; her granddaughter, Leanne Ferguson-Bulmer (Alan) of Moncton and her grandson, Ian Ferguson (Jessica) of Lutes Mountain, N.B.; cherished great grandchildren, Brianna and Ashton Bulmer, Marlie and Livia Ferguson; sisters-in-law, Shirley Howatt, Audrey Waddell, Eunice Waddell, Mildred Francis and Shirley Howatt; many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and life-long friends. Annie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Howatt (1980); sister, Pereeza; brothers, Lloyd, Sterling and William. A Service to celebrate and honour Annie’s life will be hosted by her family at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m., with Pastor Liz Wall leading the service. Reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be in People’s Cemetery, Tryon, P.E.I., in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie’s memory to the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
