Lorraine Annette Foster

It is with heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Lorraine Annette Foster on February 9, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Bessie Darrow and a proud "Shipyarder".
After leaving the Shipyard, Lorraine served in the Canadian Air Force for a short period of time during which she met her husband of 60 years.
Lorraine then worked for many years as an administrative assistant with the Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Continuing Education, Apprenticeship Division. She enjoyed the company of friends and family, especially her two grandsons whom she thought the world of.
Lorraine would always seem to find someone she knew anywhere she went and always stopped to talk to them and catch up, making a simple shopping trip a walk down memory lane.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Victor, Sydney; daughters, Suzan Finney (George), Sydney Mines and Kathy MacIntyre (Alan), Southside Boularderie; son, Bill Foster, Calgary; her two grandsons, Daniel and Liam MacIntyre; her sisters, Sissy Rutherford, Halifax, Alice Hickey (Buck) North Sydney and Helen MacIsaac, Halifax, and special sister-in-law, Thelma Darrow, Sydney; along with several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Bessie Darrow; brother, Dookie Darrow; sister, Frances Dawson, and brothers-in-law, Aubrey Dawson, Donnie Rutherford and Michael MacIsaac.
Special thanks to Dr Glen Worth and the nursing staff of unit 4B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassionate care during Lorraine's hospital stay.
As per Lorraine's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. An internment service will be announced and held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
