It is with great sadness that we, the family of Ian I. Mac Innis, announce his passing at the Northside General Hospital on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the age of 77.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 21, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Murphy) Mac Innis.
Ian was an avid reader and loved to work in his yard. He was a salesman for 35 years in the Northside area. He was well known for his contagious smile and his light hearted humour.
Ian is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Nancy (Evans); and their four children, Ian (Amy), Sydney Mines, Kevin (Jean Marie) Big Bras d’Or, Shaun (Michelle), Sydney Mines, and Bobbie Jean (Jamie) McNeil, Ottawa, Ont. Ian was blessed to have nine grandchildren who he dearly loved, Jamie, Amber, Scott, Emma, Davis, Ryan, Michael, Megan and Abagail; and his great-grandson, Lincoln. He is also survived by his sister, Georgina Nichol; along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ian was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Donald, David and Gregory; and nephew, Phillip Nichol.
In keeping with Ian’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or a charity of one’s choice.
