Glen ‘Rusty’ Steele

Glen ‘Rusty’ Steele

Date de décès : 10 février 2018

It is with heavy hearts and heartfelt sadness that we regret to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Glen ‘Rusty’ Steele, 65, on Saturday, February 10, 2018, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 15, 1952, Glen was the son of the late Alexander and Rose (Kyte) Steele.
Dad worked at Sydney Steel for many years. He could put his hand to anything. He was Jack of all trades. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. Dad made quite an impression on all who crossed his path, with his sense of humour, and his sauciness, which was always meant in a joking way.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Ann Steele, along with his two daughters, Sandi Steele and Rosanne (Cory) Steele; his four grandchildren, Kayla, Blair, Alyssa and Cameron, and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jayce, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Marlene (Ralph) Tremblett and Brenda (Darryl) Pyke; sister-in-law, Carmie Steele; his special friends, Gary Porter, Richard Finney and Carter Gale, along with many nieces and cousins, aunts and uncles.
Dad will be missed by many, especially the women at the Senior’s Complex where he lived.
And I myself, along with the rest of the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you for looking after him, and welcoming him into your families. Special thanks also to Dr. Paul Hickey, the Northside Homemakers, Von, and Palliative Care for taking such good care of our father over the years.
Besides his parents, Glen was predeceased by his brother, Harvey Steele; uncle, Michael Steele, and his good friend, Sheila Foster.
Visitation for Glen Steele will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Main St., Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
