We regret to announce the passing of Wensley Power, 89, of Florence, on Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Alder Point on April 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Peter and Sara (Dugas) Power. Wensley worked in construction for 43 years.
He enjoyed fiddle music, playing the fiddle, and even building his own fiddle. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Wensley was kind beyond imagination. He would give you the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret (Taylor) Power; sons, Wensley (Michelle), Danny (Linda) and Paul (Karen), and his daughter, Louise (Mohamed) Power-Elgadi. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, Tim, Nicholas, Ryan, Christopher and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Ava and Ivan Power; brothers, Donnie and Murdock (Jerry); sisters, Jane (Bob) Cathcart and Delvina Nesbitt, and sister-in-law, Florence Venita.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Jim, Charles and Peter, and sisters, Delvina, Robena, Rhoda, June and Catherine.
Wensley’s family would like to thank the nurses on 2 West, and especially Dr. O’Grady, for the kindness and care given to Wensley.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Main St., Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
