We, the family of the late Stuart Oliver Fricker, are sad to announce our father’s passing on February 22, 2018, at Parkland Cape Breton. Dad died with his loving family at his side.
Born in Neil’s Harbour on October 10, 1926, Stuart was the son of the late George and Susannah (Rogers) Fricker.
A resident of North Ingonish since the early 1970’s, Dad lived most of his life in Nova Scotia but worked in many different parts of Canada in Marine Construction. On every construction job, Dad stood by the motto that any job worth doing is worth doing right. He worked to the highest standards and expected others to do the same.
Stuart is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia (Howley) Fricker; and by his six children, of whom he was very proud, Monica (Mike) Williams, Antigonish, Patricia Fricker-Bates (Pat Bates), Sydney, Elizabeth Fricker, Mississauga, Harris Fricker, Toronto, Paul Fricker (Thompson, MB), and John (Geri) Fricker, San Jose, CA. Stuart is survived by seven grandchildren, Kathleen, Mark and Anne Williams, Konrad and Derek von Eppinghoven, and Dylan and Aidan Fricker. He also is survived by his sister Elma (Jimmy) Strickland, HRM; and his brother George (Margaret) Fricker, Mulgrave.
Besides his parents, Stuart was predeceased by his siblings, Alice, Theresa, Mary, Harris, Vera and Bessie.
The family extends our special thanks to the staff and administration at Parkland Cape Breton for their outstanding care and kindness during our father’s final days.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Ingonish, Cape Breton, NS.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, 2 p.m., at St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish, Fr. Lazarus Guria officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Stuart’s memory to either the Buchanan Memorial Hospital in Neil’s Harbour or to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
