It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Jane Colburn on Friday, March 2, 2018, at age 53. Wanda bravely fought a courageous 5-year battle with breast cancer and died peacefully at her home in Sydney Mines, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines (Cranberry) on February 8, 1965, she was the youngest daughter of the late James and Audrey (Johnston) Colburn.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Jonathan Buffett; her fiancé, Wally MacLennan; sisters, Deborah Colburn and Anita (John) MacMullin, as well as many extended friends and family.
Besides her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her two brothers, Carl (Brenda) Colburn and Kenny (Joan) Colburn, and grandmother, Nettie (Roper) Johnston.
Wanda’s greatest accomplishment and source of pride was her cherished son Jonathan. She took enormous joy in seeing Jonathan achieve his goals and enjoyed watching him grow into the fine young man he has become today. They shared a very special bond and she will be deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors today, Monday, March 5, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. A private family service will take place at a later date.
