Norman ‘Wayne’ Keeping

Date de décès : 1er mars 2018

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear son, husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend, Wayne Keeping on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at VG Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 21, 1974 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Wayne was the son of Cyril and Margaret (MacKenzie) Keeping.
In his younger years, Wayne worked for several summers at “Camp Conri,” a summer camp for children operated by the Salvation Army. His giving nature and tremendous sense of humour made him an instant hit with the kids.
Wayne was always fascinated with computers and technology in general. He studied at UCCB in Sydney, obtaining a diploma in computer engineering and continued upgrading by taking many courses in Canada and the USA. He worked for many years as an IT Specialist with EDS and most recently with Marine Atlantic.
He was an avid sports fan, especially volleyball, NASCAR and had a large hockey memorabilia collection. He enjoyed attending the sports activities of his children and was their biggest fan.
Music was a huge part of Wayne’s life. He had a keen ear for music and was self-taught on guitar and piano. His passion for playing and singing was something he passed on to his children, his daughter Mackenzie in particular.
Mostly, Wayne was a dedicated family man. He was a devoted husband, and father who loved all his family dearly. He treasured his lifelong friendships and enjoyed spending time with people who meant the most to him. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his parents, Cyril and Margaret Keeping, North Sydney; his loving wife, Kimberly (MacDonald) Keeping; his three children, Mackenzie, Peyton and Kylie; his brothers, Cyril Jr., North Sydney and Jamie, Sydney; his niece, Caitlyn Keeping, and nephew, Brett Brown. Also surviving are his brother-in-law, George (Donalda) MacDonald and their children, Michael, Ryan, Taylor MacDonald, and his sister-in-law, Mary MacDonald (Ronnie Moore) and their children, Michael, D.J. and Emily Moore.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine and Rev. Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
