Eldred Ronald Wareham

Date de décès : 2 mars 2018

“So Few Lines
Black Against White
To Tell The Story
Of This Amazing Man’s Life.”
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eldred Wareham, age 93. Eldred passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, March 2, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Newfoundland September 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward and Elsie Mae (Nauftall) Wareham and was a longtime member of the Warden United Church in Glace Bay.
Eldred moved to Glace Bay with his family at a young age. He met his true love Louise MacLean; they were married in 1948 and had three loving sons, Glenn, Donnie and Roddie. He was a longtime employee with Devco; working as a miner in various mines for 30 years and then worked another 15 years on their railroad.
Eldred loved to bowl and he bowled in various leagues throughout the CBRM, but his pride was the colliery league where he served as a statistician. He bowled a few nights a week up until he was 86 and still spoke of his 400 games and the fun and the pride he got from bowling.
Eldred is survived by his sons, Glenn (Lynda), Roddie (Katherine), both of ON; his son and caretaker, Donnie, and a special son, Murdock (Courtney) MacLean, all of Glace Bay; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Allison Brad, Robert and especially Jaxon who came into his life just after the loss of his loving wife Louise; putting purpose back into his life and making him smile and be happy. He will also be sadly missed by sisters, Cecile, Myrtle, Clara and Jean, and brothers, Wallace (Marg), Edward Jr. (Carolyn), Harold and Eric (Irene), and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Louise; a sister, Marjorie; a brother, Gerald; a sister-in-law, Norma (who was like the daughter he never had), and a daughter-in-law, Marion.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. followed by a reception, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Warden United Church, Glace Bay.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
