Helen (Munroe) Tatlock, BSW

Helen Tatlock, 68, of New Waterford, NS, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018, at the Palliative Care Unit, CBRH surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Remigius ‘Duxie’ (McNeil) Munroe.
Helen’s incredible journey through life is certainly a testament of her love for her family. The cottage in Marble Mountain on the beautiful Bras d’Or Lakes, she always referenced as her peace of heaven, spending time with her family and friends. The simplest things in life gave her the most pleasure: cooking a good meal, enjoying her family and friends.
Helen graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. Her career as a Social Worker truly brought her joy in helping others.
She worked at Maple Hill Manor, Breton Bay Nursing Home, Community Living for Mentally Challenged, Board Member Alzheimer Society of NS, Cape Breton Chapter Alzheimer Society, Volunteer at C.B. Addiction Center and Coordinator of Canada World Youth Team.
Helen was such a gift to those whose hearts and spirits needed her healing energy of pure love.
We, who are left behind with heavy hearts and loving memories are, her husband, Blair Tatlock; daughter, Lana; son, John Blair (Jenelle); granddaughter, Meaghan (Mitch); grandson, Riley; sister, Nadine (Dwight) Oliver; brother, Wayne (Carol) Munroe; sister-in-law, Donna (Terry); brother-in-law, Derek (Anita); nieces and nephews; many cousins, and special friends who loved her dearly.
Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by brothers, Blair and Calder, and her sister, Marilyn.
In honouring Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
The funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Leonard Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ray Huntley officiating; assisted by Rev. Duncan Roach. A reception will follow at the KOC Hall, Plummer Avenue.
Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to Palliative Care and Red Cross, Sydney, NS.
Thank you to the special team from Palliative Care that supported Helen and her family through her journey; you will always remain a special part of our lives.
