It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Roselle MacNeil (née Zack), 73, on March 9, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Maureen MacKay (Paul Dauphinee) and Kyle MacNeil (Michelle Perles). She leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Zachary MacKay; sister, Sharon Currie (Mike); as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and family members.
Born on April 12, 1944, Marilyn grew up on Henry Street in Whitney Pier before her family moved to Ankerville Street and then to Leeside Drive in Coxheath. Marilyn attended the Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro and then got a job in Christmas Island. It was there that she met her husband, Neil D. MacNeil. They married on August 28, 1965. The family moved to Northside East Bay in 1980 and lived there until Neil’s passing in 2003. Marilyn then moved to Stillwater Lake to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Marilyn was a dynamic woman who had a zest for life. Everyone was welcomed into her home with good food and good advice. She was a proud mother, a loving sister, a caring friend and a generous neighbour. Her wit, humour and charm will be dearly missed.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Neil; her parents, Joe and Margerite Zack; her sister, Donna MacMillan (Ian) and her infant sister, Maureen.
Visitation will be held at the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., from 2 - 4 p.m. & from 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1452 Kings Rd., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, with interment to follow in Christmas Island.
