It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Carleton “Monty” Powers, 60 at home on March 20, 2018, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Baddeck and raised in Ingonish, he was a son of the Late Frank and Frances (Doucette) Powers.
During his working life, Monty was a well-renowned meticulous drywaller, and then supervisor with Gaudet’s Building Contractors Limited, Halifax. He loved the simple things; spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and "GLAMPING.”
Monty is survived by his loving wife, soulmate and best friend, Nancy (Dauphinee); children, Barry, Ontario, Karla (Peter) Ottawa, ON, Wendy (Brent) at home, Derrick (Debbie), Ingonish, and Michael at home; grandchildren, MacKenzie, Evan, Alex, Destiny, Savannah, Alina, Denver, Declan, and Anastasia; sisters, Peggy (Francis) Barron, Ingonish Beach, Heather (Mark) MacDougall, Ingonish Beach, Darlene Jordon (Wayne), Trenton, NS; brothers, Joe, Sydney, Jim (Linda), Sydney, Wayne (Joyce) Ingonish; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Jean, Josie, Mary, Stewart and Donnie
Visitation for Monty will take place on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 24 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment will take place at later date.
