Darlene MacNeil

Lieu de naissance : Sydney Mines, Nouvelle Ecosse
Date de naissance : 20 septembre 1958

Date de décès : 23 mars 2018

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and best friend, Marilyn Darlene MacNeil, 59, on Friday, March 23, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Sydney Mines on September 20, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Lorraine (Harding) MacMullin.
Darlene was one of a kind, and loved by many. Anyone who knew Darlene knew that she didn’t let anything slow her down and she lived life to the fullest. She was always on the road, either going to Bingo, collecting sea glass, or just spending time with friends. If Darlene wanted to do something or go somewhere, she did. She always had a story to tell, or memories to share. She could make you laugh when you were down. Even during her battle with cancer, Darlene would be laughing and smiling. Darlene loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandsons Brett and Liam, who she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, but we know she will be watching over us from above.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Kenny; daughter, Nadine (Lukis); sister, Carol (Wayne) MacDonald; brother, Liam MacMullin; special grandsons, Brett and Liam, and nieces, Melissa, Natasha and Jennifer. She is also survived by her special aunt, Marnie Amey; many cousins, and her special friends, Marcella, Debbie, Denise Gear, Denise Walker, Heather Bungay, Heather Williams, Brenda, Edie, Gail, Wanda, Elizabeth and Sharon. Thank you all for everything you have done for Darlene over the past few months. Darlene also leaves behind her brothers-in-law, Harry (Heather) and Billy (Tania), and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Michael) and Elaine.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her goddaughter, Hailey; father-in-law, Malcolm MacNeil, and her special friend, Kenny MacRae.
Special thanks to the staff on 4th Floor, and Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and the VON, for all the care given to Darlene during her illness, and to everyone who supported Darlene during her battle.
Visitation for Darlene MacNeil will take place today, (Monday), March 26, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, at 1:30 in Trinity Anglican Church, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. A reception will be held at the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club, following the service.
Donations in Darlene’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
