He lived in St. Peter’s his whole life with the exception of his years at Mount Allison Academy and University having gone to Mt A at the age of 15 to finish grade 11 and 12. He graduated in 1941 with his Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Finance and Commerce. He was a Veteran having served in the Canadian Army during WWII.
He was a pioneer in ambulance service in Nova Scotia starting the first one in St. Peter’s area in the early 60’s after witnessing a fatal car accident. He operated this service through the 60’s and 70’s. He was a Licensed Funeral Director for over 50 years serving communities of St. Peter’s, L’Ardoise, River Bourgeois, Sampsonville, Potlotek, and surrounding areas.
He was the last manager of Morrison’s Stores Ltd. a family owned business which served the people of Richmond County for 3 generations and over 120 years.

A man of deep faith and conviction he was a member of the St. Peter’s United Church where he held the office of Clerk of Session for 50 years and was also an Elder. In his younger years he took the Temperance Pledge following the lead of his namesake and grandfather A.A. Morrison the first.
Dad enjoyed driving throughout the country roads of Cape Breton.
An avid reader and word search enthusiast he could always be found holding a book. Dad saw the beauty of God’s creation in the little things such as flowers, birds, sunsets, reflections on water often remarking “isn’t that pretty!”. His favourite places to visit included Point Michaud Beach, Grand River, Loch Lomand, Dundee and Isle Madame. Dad thoroughly enjoyed hearing the fiddle being played and enjoyed taking his family to many of the traditional outdoor concerts throughout Cape Breton.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth Margaret (MacLeod), and his only son, Alexander Allen the third; sisters, Katherine MacDonald and Alice Morrison, and brother, Dr. Kemp Morrison.
