Age 70, of Lower Sackville. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on Friday, March 23, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born on November 22, 1947 in Summerside, P.E.I. a daughter of the late Helena and Donald Carr Birch. She was a crewing officer for the Canadian Coast Guard Atlantic, retiring in 2010. After retirement, Karleen enjoyed travelling, spending time at the cottage, but most of all she loved and lived for her family. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Shawna and Tracy (Christine); granddaughter, Madeline; sisters, Donna Birch (Ron Dowling) and Wendy Holmes (Glenn); niece, Jamie Dowling; nephews, Ben and Landon Holmes; her very dear friend, Wilna Monkley. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lawrence “Larry” Emmerson Mitchell. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive.
