It is with sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Reuben Cousins, age 86, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Northside General Hospital. Reuben passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on February 19, 1932, Reuben was the son of the late Thomas and Bertha (Pyke) Cousins.
Reuben retired from Marine Atlantic but never retired from being the best handyman, and loved working in his gardens.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Lorna (Richards) Cousins, and daughters, Arlene (Sandy) Steele and Genevieve (Jenny). Reuben’s legacy will live on in his grandchildren, Lindsay (Adam), Alicia (Gary), and Justin (Cynthia), and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Rebekah, Kaitlynn, Tyler, Emilee and Bethanee. He is also survived by his sisters, Marjorie Foote and Dorothy Boutilier.
Besides his parents, Reuben was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Dooley, Helen Bailey, Lucy Tremblett and Lorraine Fortune; brothers, James, Charles, Leroy, Warren, John, and brother, Ernest in infancy.
At this time Lorna and the family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer and all the nurses of 4 West for the care they all had given Reuben.
As per his Reuben’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
