It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Mary Jane Marie Lomond (nee Skeard) announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Sunday, April 15th, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Born in Port aux Basques, NL. Mary was the daughter of the late Almon and Elizabeth Skeard. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril in 1989; brothers Edward Skeard, Clarence (Nina) Skeard; sisters Minnie (Reg) Musseau, Fanny (Jack) Scott, brothers and sisters-in-law George (Nina) Lomond, Alice (Edward) Keeping, Elsie (Frank) Cosgrove, Jane (Thomas) Battiste; granddaughter-in-law Samantha Lomond. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Jim Lomond, Almon Lomond, Arthur (Valerie) Lomond, Howard (Rita) Lomond, Kevin (Wanda) Lomond all of Port aux Basques, NL; daughters Melva (Bert) Osmond of Cape Ray, NL and Shelia Bird of Grand Prairie, AB. She also leaves behind ten (10) grandchildren; twelve (12) great-grandchildren; five (5) great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Rachel Skeard of Scotland; special home support worker Tracy Spencer and all of her special friends from the Salvation Army Citadel plus many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 17th from 7-9 pm and continued on Wednesday, April 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 19th at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel in Port aux Basques, NL officiated by Captain Maurice Shawn Collins with interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
