Helen M. Gibson

The family of Helen M. Gibson, 96, sadly announces her passing at McNair Manor, Moncton, N.B., on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Amy (Sinclair) MacKay. Helen was known to all as being kind-hearted, generous, and always quick with a smile. She was a former member of Wesley Memorial United Church and a current member of Mount Royal United Church. Helen happily donated her time to a number of causes, including as a Sunday School teacher, an Explorer leader, and a choir member at Wesley Memorial for some 50 years. She was involved with Bible Study and Prayer Chain, and was a member of the Barbara Boudreau Memorial Handbell Choir. She was an active member of the UCW Unit 3, the University Women’s Club, and the Church Board and Presbytery. She enjoyed bridge and was a supporter of the NB Symphony and Theater NB. Helen was retired from the Federal Government with 15 years’ service and was a graduate of Mount Allison University (1943). Surviving are her son, Jamie, her daughter-in-law, Sandra, and her cherished grandchildren, Greg and Sarah. Helen was predeceased by her husband, James (1994). Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995), will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Beverly Daley. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, later in the spring.
