We, the family of Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Weeks (nee Embree), regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born March 6, 1924, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Mary (Matheson) Embree.
After 27 years of service, Betty retired from MT&T. She was a member of United Heritage Church, Sydney and the IODE, Louisbourg Chapter.
Betty is survived by her brother, Hector and several stepchildren in Edmonton and PEI. Betty or “Auntie Bet” was a very special and much loved aunt to her ten nieces and nephews, her many grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert “Abbie”; sisters, Christine Weeks and Helen Ferguson; brothers, George and Donald.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Hardwood Hill Cemetery on Saturday, June 16 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Heritage Church, Sydney.
