Passed peacefully away in his own home lovingly surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Edward (Eddy) Malcolm Jude Howlett, age 57. Predeceased by his father Edward J. (1990), his grandparents James (1996) and Theresa (Joyce) (1980) Howlett, Philip (1989) and Mary (Dinn) (1998) Heffernan, special aunt Sr. Johanna Howlett (2009), uncles Robert E. Howlett (1942), Francis M. Howlett (1933), Philip Heffernan Jr. (2011) cousins Christopher Heffernan, Donnie Shaw and Danny Heffernan. Leaving to mourn with fond and beautiful memories his loving wife of 31 years Georgina, precious children Jennifer (Travis), Robert (Jason), and Vanessa, mother Rosemary and Sister Susan, uncles Ron Howlett, Kevin (Doreen) Heffernan, Pat (Jean) Heffernan, Doug (Mary) Heffernan, aunts Jenny (George) Shaw, Marg (Boyd) Lee, Teresa (Gerry) Edney, Barb Daniels, (Bill) Dot Heffernan, lifelong friends Don (Rosalyn) Drew, and David Chafe, special friends Andre Camaraire, Father Ken Walsh, Ann Putt, Calvin and Brenda Burke, Brendan and Patricia Vickers, Paul and Sonjia Walsh, Marie Ryall, and Marina and Chris Thistle, mother and father-in-law George and Rita Chafe and in-laws Carl (Sharon), Mary (Shawn), Cindy (Harold), Karen (Wade), Michelle (Eric), Lori (Larry), George (Judy) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and business associates in the monument industry throughout the world too numerous to mention and his furry friends Teddy and Bailee. Eddy was a very loving, kind, generous and compassionate man who was always wanting to help others. He was very involved in St. Kevin's school, parish and community, a cub, boy scout and scout leader, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, served on parish council, finance and cemetery committees and recreation groups. He was president of Muir’s Marble works and became the first certified memorialist in Atlantic Canada, along with the first certified master memorialist in Atlantic Canada. He was a long time MBNA Canadian Trustee, OMBA Director, a member of Association of Gravestone Studies, a recipient of Governor General Caring Canadian Award, Veterans Affairs Commendation, Queen’s Jubilee Medal, three time winner MBNA Aspire Award, four time winner of OMBA Ted Hayden Award. Although his greatest passion was his family, he was also passionate about genealogy, travelling, art, reading and collecting. He loved to meet relatives all around the world. He was a lucky man who's travel bucket list was just about complete. He was looking forward to meeting his first grandchild expected to arrive in July who he liked to refer to as "Little Eddy". He will be resting at Cauls Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road on Sunday, May 20th from 2-9 p.m. and Monday, May 21st from 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. from St Kevin’s Church, Goulds with inurnment to follow at St. Kevin’s Cemetery, Goulds. Flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
