It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Margaret Kieley, age 74. A long-time resident of Sydney Mines, she lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with her loving family by her side.
Marg loved and enjoyed all the simple things in life. Family and friends were her passion and delight. She cherished her grandson, Thomas, and never missed an opportunity to care for and spoil him. She was known for being a sweet, caring soul with a zest for life. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing darts, bowling, Saturday night dances and line dancing with her friends. She loved good food and socializing, going to movies and having picnics at the beach with her family. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and a wonderful sense of humour that would guarantee a giggle or two.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael Kieley; daughter, Michelle Chew; grandson, Thomas; beloved family pet, Chloe; sisters, Helen, Corry (Steve) and Veronica (Steve), and brothers, Henry (Bud), Kevin (Regill), Leo (Sophie), Paul (Tess) and Earl (Mary). She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary (MacNeil) Witherall; brothers, Willie, Brian and Jim; sisters, Georgina and Anne; mother-in-law, Ellen McCarthy; father-in-law, Nicholas Kieley; sisters-in-law, Catherine, Marlena and June, and brothers-in-law, Eldon, Winston, Jim, Rollie, Pat and Joey.
Special thanks to Palliative Care, Dr. Michel McKeough and Louise, Dr. Khododad, and all those who cared for her during her last few months. She was so very touched by the thoughtfulness and kindness shown to her by family, friends and neighbours.
Her family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 26, 2018, from 9-10 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating. Interment will take place following the service.
