It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia A. Edwards, age 73, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at The Cove Guest Home, Sydney, after a lengthy illness. Patricia was born on July 22, 1944 to the late Blanche (LeBlanc) and David McDougall of Sydney Mines, NS.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cyril Edwards; her son, David Edwards; her sister, Gloria McDougall, and her brother, David McDougall.
Patricia is survived by daughters, Laura MacLennan (Bernie), Bras d’Or and Jeannie Fraser (Chris), Ben Eoin; sons, Robert, Parry Sound, ON, and Cyril (Arlene), Toronto; granddaughters, Tania Sullivan (Cory), North Sydney, Hannah Fraser, Edmonton, AB, Chase Black, Toronto, Adriana Edwards, Toronto; Riley and Sarah King, Toronto; great-grandchildren, Landen and Lily-Rose Sullivan. Also left behind to grieve is her dear sister, Elizabeth Zammit, Toronto, ON, and closest friends, Louise Swimm, Anastasia Halpern and Jane Black.
We would like to extend a deep and heartfelt thank you to the Staff of The Cove Guest Home in Sydney, My Cape Breton Home for Seniors’ in North Sydney and the Palliative Care Society for providing the care and comfort she needed during her final years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday with prayers to follow officiated by Rev. Patrick O’Neill, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A Funeral Mass for Patricia will be held at a later date with burial to take place in St. Stephen Cemetery, Florence.
