Sonny Absalom Slade
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sonny Slade, Ferris Street, Sydney, on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at his residence. Born September 23, 1953, in Sydney, he was the son of the late Absalom and Florence Slade. Following high school graduation, Sonny was employed with Sydney Steel until his retirement. He was known for his kindness, sense of humor and love of family. His happiest moments were spent out on the Mira at the bungalow surrounded by his family. Sonny loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his son, Les (Melody); daughter, Kim (Steve); wife, Louise; grandchildren, Justin and Mikayla. Sonny is also survived by his siblings, Leslie (Bev), Joyce (Bruce) and Gwen (Clair) and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Doris and brother-in-law, Terrance. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 10 a.m., with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
