Wallace Raymond ‘DeeDee’ Cameron

Wallace Raymond ‘DeeDee’ Cameron

Date de décès : 25 juin 2018

Wallace Raymond ‘DeeDee’ Cameron, 78, of Albert Bridge, formerly of New Victoria, NS, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 25, 2018.
Ray was a Royal Canadian Air Force veteran. He retired after 28 years of service and has been living back in Cape Breton ever since.
A loving and caring father to Stephen (Charmaine), Moncton, NB, Natalie (Tyson), Calgary, AB and Wally (Josee), Ottawa, ON. He will be missed by his loving wife of 17 years, Lorraine (Rich-MacGibbon) and her daughters, Gayle (Randolph), Lake Echo, NS and Marilyn (Paul), Hammonds Plains, NS.
He is predeceased by his dearest wife of 30 years, Kathleen (McLellan), and his parents, Ralph and Anne Cameron.
He is survived by his siblings, Frank (Willena), Zita (Norm) and Gary (Donna), and extended family.
Family always took precedent in Ray’s life and he will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren, Kayla (Logan), Kathleen, Mia, Colton, Corey, Ethan, Alexis, Zoe, Westen, Hannah, Rachel, Josiah, Brooke, Connor and Cooper.
Out on the Mira is where he loved to be. Many summer days filled his heart with ever-loving memories always surrounded by friends and family. He loved bon fires, boating, holies, laughter and good times …and a few Olands.
In his day he was a talented skip of many curling teams. He enjoyed fishing and had many fun adventures on the frozen Mira and sleeping on the bus up at the lake. If you needed a tarabish partner, he was your man. He could be found in the stands of many hockey rinks all over Canada enjoying one of his biggest passions, cheering on his kids and grandkids. All of his grandkids developed a healthy sense of tolerance with his constant, playful teasing. Ray has been a wonderful role model and showed us how to be a parent, a friend and a husband. He was a kind man whose honorable character and wonderful sense of humour made him loved so strongly by everyone he met. There is a hole in our hearts that will never mend.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 with a service to be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, NS, with Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow at the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Club, Unit 217, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
