1931 - 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris (Dorie Miller) Vuorela on May 5th, 2018. She was predeceased by her mother Sophronia and father Harry L. Miller, two brothers John and Peter Miller, both of Corner Brook. She is survived by her husband Tauno (Tony) and son Timothy (Juliana), and grandsons Kai and Brady and also by sisters Jane McGrath, Mary Basha, Carolyn (Cackie) Elliott and Judy Bes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorie grew up in Howley and Corner Brook. She attended high school in Nova Scotia and graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1953. She worked as a nurse at the Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook and at several other hospitals in Canada and she also worked in Bermuda. She finally settled in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. She loved reading and playing bridge and she was known as a person who cared for others. Dorie will be remembered with love and affection by her family and by all who knew her. A service and reception was held for her at the Trinity United church in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.
