It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Teresa Ann (Paruch) MacQueen on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney. Born in Sydney on December 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Paruch.
Teresa leaves behind her loving daughters, Arlene (David) MacKenzie, Shenacadie and Karen MacQueen (Ken), Sydney. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Daniel, Scott, Tracey, Michael, Brett, Jillian and Kieran, as well as great-grandchildren; her sister, Frances (Gino) Mei; special sister-in-law, Flo Paruch, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Teresa was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Arnold ‘Boo’ MacQueen, who was the love of her life. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Charlotte Tasseff, Mary Chappell, Sophie Walsh and Josephine Paruch; brothers, Frank, John, Michael and Joseph ‘Buddy’, as well as two brothers in infancy, and special sister-in-law, Caroline Paruch.
Mom could often be found in her garden, which was her pride and joy. She was a skilled seamstress who often made our clothes with love. The entire family looked forward to her perogies, a tradition passed down to her daughters.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier on Wednesday, July 11 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
We were blessed to have had such a beautiful and devoted mother who we will miss deeply and forever.
