It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Douglas Boutilier, age 75, a resident of 17 High St., North Sydney, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney on May 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Ernest and Irene (the Barb Leblanc) Boutilier. Joe worked in construction for 25 years until his early retirement. Joe was a very meek and gentle man and was loved by many.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Elaine (Bailey); his daughter, Virginia (Kenneth) and his son, Stanley; his grandchildren, David (Rita), Isabella and Kyle; one great-grandson, Dustin; his brothers, Sanford, North Sydney, Russell (Dorothy), Ontario, Adrian (Delores), Duncan, BC and Floyd (Harriet), Sydney Mines. Also surviving are his step-children, Bill (Julianna) and Tanya (Charles); step-grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Jessie, Gabe and Annalynn; his mother-in-law, Jessie Bailey; his brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Meta (Bradley); sister-in-law, Dianne Boutilier, and step-son, Ricky Parsons.
A sincere thank you to Palliative Care, his doctors and nurses and the VON who came to care for Joe everyday while at home.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family and friends graveside gathering will take place at a later date.
