DOUCETTE, Delbert Joseph – age 76, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 3, 1942 in Quinan, he was a son of the late Avite and Mary (Frotten) Doucette. Delbert worked as a scallop fisherman and enjoyed hunting and spending time with the dogs he loved, his own Zannah and his “grand-dog” Marley. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Cottreau, as well as by his children, Adam Cottreau, Wedgeport and Anita Cottreau (Alana Jacquard), all of Wedgeport; Clayton (Marilyn) Doucette, Yarmouth; Wesley (Joan) Doucette, Pleasant Lake; Susan Landers (Dale Thompson), Pembroke; Debbie Doucette (Joe LeBlanc), Wedgeport; Doreen (Rick) Saulnier, Darlings Lake; ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Emily Thombs, Hamilton, ON; Evelyn Muise, Quinan; Lorraine Vacon, Mayflower; Marie (Richard) Ellis, Dartmouth; Vivian (Danny) Landry, Amirault’s Hill; Elizabeth (Kenneth) Jacquard, North Belleville and a brother, Flavien (Dorothy) Doucette, North Belleville. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Freddie Doucette and a great granddaughter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth and there was no visitation. A funeral Mass was held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 23 from Saint Agnes Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
