It is with great sadness that we, the loving family of Marjorie Assumpta Landry, 91, of South Bar, regret to announce her passing on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Born in Sydney on August 15, 1926, Mar was the daughter of the late Jack and Clara (MacDonald) MacPhail.
Over the past ten years, Mar resided with her son, Dave in South Bar.
Mom was a gentle, caring and loving woman. She would never offend anyone. Her teapot was always on the stove for anyone who crossed her doorstep. She also loved to engage in conversations with friends and family alike.
Mar is survived by her sons, Jerry (Diane) and Dave (Sandra); grandchildren, Darryl, Dana and Danielle; eight great-grandchildren, Kellsey, Jordan, Jenna, Jessica, Cameron, Callie, Jordynn, Abby; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Landry Sr. and siblings, John, Earl, Kay, Connie and Clarence.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ajuwon and to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor medical wing at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Victoria Road on Wednesday, July 25 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, South Bar.
