Mom passed peacefully away on July 19, 2018 at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home in her 106th year, originally from Tickle Cove, B.B. Although saddened we are grateful to have had her in our lives for so many years. Predeceased by husband, John (July 19, 1953) and siblings, Dominic, Margaret, Edward, Bill and Mary. Leaving to mourn, daughters, Nora Hamilton (John) and Mary Greene (Bob-deceased), both of St. John’s and her son Gerard with her very special and caring daughter-in-law, Mary Lou of Redcliff, B.B. Seven grandchildren, Gerald, David, Diane (Chris) and Paul Hamilton, Wade (Roxanne) Maloney, Renee Sparks (Todd) and Greg Greene. Seven precious great-grandchildren, Abigal, Grace, Ben, Dawson, Teya, Dustin and Dylan. Brother, Albert Newell of Summerville B.B. and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a quiet, kind and caring lady; dedicated to her faith throughout her life; also known for her sewing and knitting handywork, always ready to lend a hand to anyone needing her special touch. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Sunday, July 22 from 2-9pm with cremation to follow. Visitation will resume at the Sacred Heart Church, Open Hall, B.B. on Friday, July 27 from 7-9pm and on Saturday, July 28 from 10am-12pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1pm followed by inurnment at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Open Hall, B.B. Donations in Gertrude’s memory may be made to the Sacred Heart Church, Open Hall, B.B.
