It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Charlotte Marie Bittner, who passed away on July 28, 2018 after a sudden and brave battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her parents Raymond and Nellie Dewling, her brothers Robin, John, Bill, Roger and Eddie, and her sister Corrine, along with other members of the extended family. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sister Grace; her brothers Tom, George, and Edmund, and their families; her children Rodrick, Esther, and Derrick, and their families; and her beloved husband of 30 years Fred Bittner and his children (Jane, Lisa, Tina, Tony and Ruth) and their families; along with many other dear friends and relatives. She was born in Champney’s East and spent most of her life in Clarenville. She was a creative person who sewed, knitted, crocheted and made Bunka pictures. She did photography and was also skilled at making and decorating wedding cakes. She started her own clothing store and later opened a bridal salon in Clarenville. She loved to dance and sing, and was musically inclined. She could play the piano by ear, and up to the time of her diagnosis was taking guitar lessons. Most of all, she loved to travel and had been to many places such as Germany, Cuba, Mexico, California, Nevada, across Canada, up to Alaska, and most recently got to spend a month in Florida. Charlotte moved back to Newfoundland from Fredericton, NB to spend the remainder of her life in the care and support of all her friends and family and was grateful for her time with them. She was a caring and compassionate person and was comforted by her faith during her illness. She had a beautiful smile and sense of humour. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The visitation took place at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Tuesday, July 31st. Memorial service was held on Wednesday August 1st from Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville with interment of her ashes following at the Anglican Cemetery, Champney’s East. Donations may be made in her memory to the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville.
