John Leonard O’Toole

John Leonard O’Toole

Date de décès : 3 août 2018

It is with great sadness the family of John Leonard O’Toole 'Lenny' announce his passing on August 3, 2018 at the age of 73.
As Lenny lived, he died, in the peace of his home on the street he was born and raised. Lenny knew and helped so many, and lived a very full life, from his children and wife, to his second family at LIUNA local 92 for 30 plus years in Edmonton. He was a little rough around the edges, but also a soft and kind man, who always had and loved visitors to tell his life tales to. And tales they were! From skydiving, to running a major union, or battling it out in a boardroom… But his favorites were about his wife, kids and family. His Family surrounded him to ease his passing and to show that all he has done for others will be returned to him in the way of love.
While he will be missed, he will never be forgotten as he left a big imprint in this world. His life was full, because he drew many people to him, whether through his union activity, from Seafarers International, to LIUNA Local 92 where he spent his working days until retirement. To the daily gatherings at his home for a beer and a tale, or some political banter for fun. Phone always ringing, from all over Canada to have a chat or get some advice.
Today we lost a friend, brother, father great man but he gained peace, so for that we are grateful, yet saddened. Duality is party of life, we can be saddened yet happy together, and in time healing will come.
Lenny will finally be at peace alongside his wife, and love of his life, Marlene (Collins) O’Toole. He was predeceased by his son, John Patrick O’Toole; his parents, Adrian and Annie (MacDonald) O’Toole, and his sister, Anne Marinelli (Toe).
Lenny is survived by his sons, Lennie O’Toole, Lance O’Toole, and from his first marriage (Pat), Terry O’Toole (Elaine), and his children Kelsey and Curtis, and his only daughter, Bonnie Power (Doug) and her children Cassandra, Dayne and Landon. As well as brothers, Adrian O’Toole (Phyllis) and Brain O’Toole (Kathy); sisters, Marlene Cousins (Ernie), Marion Marinelli (Dominic); brother-in-law, Wayne Collins (Kim), Wayne O’Toole (Katrina); his nephew, who he thought of as a brother, and a special mention to his friend who visited daily, Guy Cox.
There were so many people in Lenny’s life it is difficult to include all, so many family and friends, union brothers and sisters that it would take many pages.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the Palliative Care Team, the VON and Home Care for the help they provided and care they gave to Lenny.
As for his wishes, no service will be held.
Donations may be made in his memory to Palliative care.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
