Hugh Alexander MacKenzie
With heavy and saddened hearts, the family of Hugh Alexander MacKenzie of Glace Bay, announce his sudden passing on August 27th, 2018, at the age of 81. Hugh was the son of the late Charles MacKenzie and Pliney MacKenzie Degaugue. Hugh was born in Glace Bay and spent much of his time in Antigonish and Ontario before he settled down and married Myrna MacDonald of Dominion and started their family. Hugh worked for Devco for many years before his retirement in 1987.
Hugh is survived by daughter, Claressa (Ressa) and Ken of Glace Bay; sons, Hugh of New Waterford, Keith and Diane of Glace Bay, and Matthew, also of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Amanda, Crystal, Courtney, Tiffany, Kaylee, Krislyn, and Sarah; great-grandchildren Logan, Spencer, Brooklyn, Madison, Serenity, Jon, Jordan, Arya, and Karson; sister Bernita (Don) Matthias of Dominion, and his best friends, Jack and Nancy O’Brien. He was predeceased by his parents and wife Myrna.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. (902-849-4199) There will be no visitation.
A funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish on Friday, August 31st, at 11 a.m. The family will be at the back of the church after 9.30 a.m. for condolences.
