Mabel Viola Reid

Mabel Viola Reid

Date de naissance : 16 janvier 1927

Date de décès : 5 septembre 2018

Forever faithful to her God and family, Mabel Viola Reid peacefully ended her journey in this world on September 5th. Born in January, 1927, she was the last surviving child of Charles and Mathilda Brett of Joe Batt’s Arm, Fogo Island, Newfoundland, a home near and dear to her heart. Mabel trained at the General Hospital in St. John’s, graduating with her RN in 1948. She moved to Heart’s Delight, as the District Nurse, where she met her husband Ellis, who predeceased her, and where she lovingly brought up her two children John (Annelies) and Faith (Lloyd). In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn Spencer, Madelaine, and Brett, her three grandchildren, and a number of nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, and dear friends. In recent years Mabel moved to Moncton, NB, where her strong and straight-forward personality, as well as her humour, left a lasting, positive impact on the numerous contacts she met in church and nursing home alike. Among the gifts she gave us were her steadfast faith, determination to do the right thing, generosity, empathy, boundless energy, and readiness to be where she could help others. Mabel will be laid to rest next to her husband on Tuesday, Sept. 11th, in Heart’s Delight. Last respects will be held from 7-9 pm at the Epiphany Church on Monday, Sept. 10th; funeral service will be held in Epiphany Church at 2 pm; followed by internment in Bethel United Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Mabel's memory may be made to the Church of the Epiphany, Heart's Delight or Bethel United Church, Heart's Delight. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo. To send a message of condolence or to sign the online memorial guest book, please visit www.warrensfuneralhome.ca.
