Norman Vance Hingley

Hingley, Norman Vance, 76, of Crowes Mills, passed away peacefully Monday, September 10, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre Truro. Born April 5, 1942 in North River, he was a son of the late Olman and Alice (Studivan) Hingley, and later moved to New Annan with his family. He was a former employee of Dom Tar for 15 years, and later trucked wood for others and then on his own until his retirement. His family and friends, of whom he had many, knew him so well with his many practical jokes that he played on so many. But regardless of all his pranks he was a big loving teddy bear. Norman loved being in the woods and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly “Bev” (Higgins); daughters, Donna (Cory) Crossman, Dutch Settlement, Leah (Jason) Reeves, Nuttby; son, Joel Hingley (Joy), Adam MacCallum Road; twin brother, Newton (Darlene) Hingley, Harmony; grandsons, Cameron and Thane Crossman, Lucas and Riley Reeves; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by half-brother, Ernie (Betty) Blackmore; half-sister, Gladys (Stanley) MacKenzie. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro from where visitation was held 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018. A private family graveside service and interment was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in the Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River, with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in Norman’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
