Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Saturday, September 15 2018, Rita Veley (nee Golden), in her ninety-fourth year. Predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Leonard William Veley, parents Mary and George Golden, brother Maxwell Golden, infant sister Velma Golden and stepson Gordon Veley. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughters Sharon and Deanne, daughter-in-law Edith Veley, brother William Golden, sisters Mary Follett and Eleanor Wells, sister-in-law Eva Eddy and Gord’s children Darryl and Leanne along with their families. Also, lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Ethel (John) Shymko, Winnipeg and family in Ontario: sisters-in-law Lois Duscharme, Bertha (Les) Mills, Isabelle Dusharme and Edna Kish and brothers-in-law Robert and David Veley. Also, a large, supportive and valued circle of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and cherished friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home on 328 Hamilton Avenue in St. John's, Newfoundland. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 11 am - 9 pm and Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 10 am - 1 pm followed by a memorial service at Barrett’s Chapel on September 18, 2018 at 2 pm. At Rita’s request, there will be a funeral service from St. Andrew’s United Church in Whiteway, NL at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Interment to follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
