MACKINNON, Bernard Peter Age 86 of Halifax passed away September 15, 2018 at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital, Halifax, NS. He was born at Island Point, Boulardarie, NS. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys (Walker) and an infant son. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He was survived by 7 children, Linda and Jeffrey of Red Deer, AB and Rocco and Loretta of Edmonton, AB and Theresa of Fort St. John, BC and Wayne of Falmouth, NS and Joanne of Hantsport, NS, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He proudly served in the Korean War 1952-1959 with the Anti-Tank Platoon 48th Brigade, 1st Canadian Nova Scotia Highlanders. For many years, he tirelessly volunteered with Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign. Throughout the years, he worked for various construction companies in the Halifax area. Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, New Ross with internment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Officiating: Father Joseph Thomas.
