Rick had a pioneer’s spirit. He was a curious, self-made man whose greatest joys were close to his home. With his dearest he shared his playful good humour. He will be so missed.
He was born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia where his family values were founded: love, loyalty and pride. After completing his studies in Geology at St. Francis Xavier University he ventured to Calgary, Alberta to pursue a career in the oil patch. There he built many great companies and more treasured to him, a beautiful and unique family.
He leaves behind many sad hearts. His wife of nearly twenty years, Lisa, was his soul mate; with her he shared the deepest respect. He will be remembered by his adoring mother, Eunice, his loving children, Jamison (Elizabeth), Aurora (Steve), Jennifer and Alexander, his cherished grandchildren, Danika, Marika, Calysta and Sacha, his dear brother, Kevin and many other family members. Guiding Rick’s way into eternity are his father, Albert, Kevin’s wife, Dorothy, and Lisa’s brother, Donnie.
Dad, forge forth into the next land. We will see you again there… and we hope you find no line-ups.
A private memorial service will be held on the Elbow River for his closest friends and loved ones.
