Douglas Ward Jackson

It is with great sadness that, we the family, announce the death of Doug Jackson. Doug passed away peacefully, October 3, 2018, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born October 23, 1942, to parents John and Valencia Jackson, Ingonish. He is survived by sisters, Shirley DeKouchay, Sydney; Emily Spriggs, Middle Sackville; brother, Lewis (Irene) Prescott, Ontario; sister-in-law Maureen also several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette; his brother, Leonard and brother-in-law, Frank Spriggs. While living in Ottawa Doug worked at LeBlanc Electric doing Armature winding. It was while living in Ottawa he met his late wife Jeanette.
Doug and Jeanette moved home to Ingonish where he spent many years fishing lobsters.
He was always ready to help others and often volunteered his time to help with Search and Rescue when help was needed. Doug and Jeanette built their retirement home at West Lake Ainslie. Sunday afternoons you would often find them enjoying the horse races at Inverness Race Track, they also enjoyed playing cards with their friends and neighbors.
