Passed peacefully away on October 9, 2018 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the age of 82. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Jessie Elgar, siblings infant Marjorie Elgar and June Batt, and brother-in-law Dean Fisher. His world was his family; leaving to mourn his loving wife of 58 years Loretta (nee Smith), daughters Cynthia Elgar (Ric Mercer) and Rhonda Elgar (Dale Scott); grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Mercer and Sarah and Alexander Scott; siblings Ruby Hynes (Charles), Shirley Fisher, Yvonne Edwards (Kenneth) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ron was a devoted civil servant, starting as a teacher, later joining the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, and then spending the remainder of his work life on the Canadian National Railway Police Force.
