It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Walter (Walt) Rose and his wife Wendy Ho in a tragic motor vehicle accident in Port Perry, Ontario. Walter will be lovingly remembered by his son Michael of Goodwood, ON, mother Annie Rose of Flower’s Cove, NL, sisters Sheena Ward (Frank) of Leading Tickles, NL, Nancy Stemmer (Dan) of Sherwood Park, AB, Shirley Barr (Carl Henderson) of Hamilton, ON, Vina Marshall (Wayne) of Hinton, AB, Jean Harper (Mark) of Sherwood Park, AB, Beverly Rose (Mike Larche) of Red Deer, AB, brother Rex Rose (Belinda) of Georgetown, ON, nieces Tonia Rideout (kids Kayla, Hailey & Nathan), Teena Dowling (kids Connor & Chelsea), Kristy Marshall, Ashley Marshall, nephews Neil Ward & Christopher Hill, extended family and countless friends. Predeceased by father John Rose of Flower’s Cove and niece Jamie Rose Hill. For the last 12 years Walter, affectionately known as the “horse whisperer”, has managed Horse Paradise, a horse boarding business in Goodwood, ON. Prior to that he spent several years working on the oil rigs, both on land (in and around Alberta) and offshore (Nova Scotia & Newfoundland). Walter also enjoyed some time fishing with his brother Rex and never stopped putting his mechanical skills to use in restoring old vehicles, a passion of his. A celebration of life will take place at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre in Richmond Hill, ON on Tuesday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by entombment. A service will also take place in Flower’s Cove, NL, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Michael’s Education Fund.
