TREFRY, Ruth Anna – age 89, of the Meadows Home for Special Care, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2018 with family by her side. Born March 27, 1929 in Brooklyn, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Elizabeth (Anderson) King. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was an active member of the Yarmouth North Baptist Church for many decades participating in the choir and bible studies where she drove many people there. She was also the Captain of her bowling team, at Brunswick Lanes and was a weigher at her Tops group. Mum had a sixth sense for the lid coming off the cookie jar but didn't mind because there was always Bachelor Buttons for everyone. She also enjoyed crafts and going for long walks everyday on Pleasant Street. With her husband of 62 years they had 6 children,18 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, David (Janet), Wyman Rd.; Bob (Nancy), Port Maitland; daughters, Linda (David) Haines, Harmony; Betty (Dennis) Trefry, Dartmouth; Nancy (Mike) Winchester, Arcadia; son in law Fraser MacIsaac, Summerville; grandchildren, Tim, Twila, Sarah, Greg, Bryan, Jenny, Matthew, Mikael, Heidi, Mandi, Josh, Ian, Corey, Harold, Nick, Kate, Andrew, and Luke; and sister in law, Marion King, Brooklyn; as well as her true and loving friend for over 50 years, Olive Penney, Port Maitland. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Keith Trefry; daughter, Lillian MacIsaac; brothers, Robert and Albert King; sister Mildred (Merle) Wetmore. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday November 19, 2018 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service took place on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 4:30 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell and Rev Keith Moore officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Chebogue Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth North Baptist Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Following the service a reception was held at the Brooklyn Seniors Hall, all were welcomed to attend.
