Cecil Harry Maxwell Blundell (May 21, 1938 – November 26, 2018)
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Cecil Blundell on Monday, November 26, 2018 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish at the age of 80 years. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie and many of his family members at the time of his passing.

Born May 21, 1938, the fifth of six children, to the late Max and Maud (George) Blundell. Cecil was predeceased by his sister Hazel and brother Clarence. The family lived in Hickman's Harbour until he moved to Grand Falls - Windsor in 1968.

Cecil was a devoted husband and father to his three children Bernice, Marie and Glenn. They lived in Grand Falls - Windsor, Newfoundland where he was proud to have worked almost 40 years as a member of the Canadian National Railway where he held roles as Conductor and Brakeman. In his spare time, Cecil took immaculate care of his home, was lover of cars, driving and western movies. After his retirement from the railway, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and catching up with former co-workers reminiscing about the good times they shared on the railroad.
He was also a loving grandfather, great grandfather and a dear friend of many, he will be forever remembered for his charm, whit, and ability to make everyone laugh.

Cecil is survived by his wife Nellie (Woolridge); his children, Bernice (Ernie) Wotton, Antigonish, Nova Scotia; Marie Sharpe (Alf), St. John’s, Newfoundland; Glenn (Mica) Blundell, Toronto, Ontario; four grandchildren, Lewis (Lisa), Sara (Dustin), Kyle (Sarah), Bryce (Lisa), Rebecca and Dylan; one great-grandson, Tate. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (late George) Butt, brothers, Fred (late Josephine), Wallace (Janet) Blundell. Also survived by three nieces and one nephew along with several additional family members and close friends who held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will take place from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 7:00-9:00p.m. on Friday, November 30th at Vardy’s Funeral Home, Hickman’s Harbour, Newfoundland. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00a.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, Hickman’s Harbour.
