Athony Vincent (Vince)
Left this world on November 24, 2018 surrounded by his close famiy. He was the son of Anthony (Irish) and Hazel (Dornan), born February 11, 1924 in Amherst, NS. He attended St. Charles School, and attended Amherst Regional High School. HIs Alma Mater was Dalhousie University where he graduated with a degree in Commerce. He was a lifelong devoted member of the Catholic church. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Kavanagh), daugther Karen (Robichaud), wife Priscilla (Campbell), brothers Jack, Richard (Dick), Edward (Eddie) and sister Mary (Munro). He is survived by Betty Lou (Campbell), Patricia (Cattran), Dorothy (Dolly) MacDonald, daughter Kathryn (Smits), Amherst, grandson Peter (Ormond), granddaughter Peggy (Ormond), great granddaughters Amelia and Gabrielle(Peggy). As well as several nieces, nepehews, and great nieces and nephews. Vince was a veteran of WW2 where he served with the RCAF and went on to serve as a career Officer in the Armed Forces. Long after he served he was an advocate for Veteran's rights and their just treatment as civilians. After his career in the Forces, he went on to work at Indian and Northern Affairs as head of Finance. Vince was an avid golfer, loved and had a deep understanding of baseball. He was very gifted with written and spoken word; if you didn't already know Vince would tell you. He coached basketball in Marville France in his younger years, was a deft shot in pool, a great distance swimmer, curled and was a member of the Amherst Curling Club. He also loved to spend time at the family cottage in Pugwash. He was very generous with his time and loved spending time with his family. Perhaps his greatest skill was his concise dry humour and knew that the truth didn't always come dressed for dinner. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, December 1 between 2 to 4 PM at the Amherst Curling Club Amherst NS
