Helen Jean LOUGHEAD

Helen Jean LOUGHEAD

Loughead, Helen Jean 89, Truro, slipped away quietly November 30, 2018 surrounded with love on her way to be with those she has missed so much. Born at home at The Falls, Helen was the daughter of the late Willie John and Sadie (Hayman) MacLeod. Helen worked at the Hat Shop on Brunswick Street when she moved to Truro from The Falls. Eventually Helen decided that she was to be a homemaker and she was top notch. Helen was a social butterfly always in contact with her family and a large group of friends. Helen was a favourite aunt for many reasons including packing her nieces into her convertible for trips to the beach, organizing family birthday parties at the camp on Sunday afternoons and boat cruises and trips to warm countries. She knew how to fill a room with laughter. Helen was also a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro for many years. Helen married Parkie on April 7, 1954, the two of them lived a life full of adventure and dedication to each other. They packed so much into their years together. They danced, travelled, and loved each other and those around them. Later in life they spent time travelling in their motor home to destinations in the Atlantic Provinces or just to the driveway to have lunch. Helen is survived by sister, Christine Morrow, along with several nieces. Helen was predeceased by an infant daughter, Joy Heather; her husband of 58 years, Parker Loughead; brother, Harold MacLeod and sister, Kathleen Geddes. The family would like to thank Cedarstone- Garden & Eden road in particular for the care & friendship they have shown Helen. It is greatly appreciated. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15th in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Pastor Jacquie Ross officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in Old Barns Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society Nova Scotia. Live webcasting of the service will begin at 10:58 am (Atlantic Time) and is available along with online condolences at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
